Highbury Korfball Club is seeking a coach for our 1st and 2nd team squad for the 2019/2020 season.

Our current head coach (Steph Watson) is going on maternity leave to have her second child in September. This means there is an opening for an experienced coach to come in and coach our 1st and 2nd team squad for either a whole season, or for the first part of the season until Steph returns. We are happy to discuss any such arrangement with potential candidates.

After a successful weekend at the Copper Box, our 1st team have qualified to play in the EKA National League for the 1st time next season. Meanwhile our 2nd team who were promoted to the London Regional League in the previous season finished comfortable mid table. Our 3rd team have also been promoted into the LRL showing the player depth we have in the club.

As a club we have tried to instill a progressive coaching philosophy, which focuses around player development, rather than match by match results. We have developed the majority of our 1st and 2nd team squads from university graduates moving to London who have demonstrated a willingness to listen to the coaches instructions and philosophy to improve as a group.

We’re looking for someone who has a passion to help our players progress – We aren’t interested in short-term results, we want to develop our players and create a sustainable club.

We are willing to negotiate on payment for both training sessions and match attendance with any prospective candidate.

The squad currently train on Thursday evenings at the Petchey Academy in Dalston from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, although we are currently seeking an alternative match venue for our EKL games so this may change. If a prospective coach is unable to train on this evening we may be able to switch this booking.
